Jota by Agustin Barrios Mangore (1885-1944)
 This well known Spanish dance in an arrangement by Barrios and reputedly based on Francisco Tarrega’s arrangement. The earliest reference to this work is from a double-sided recording made in Buenos Aires in 1914. A concert program in Rio de Janeiro dated August 1, 1916 lists this work as a closing selection, something which Barrios did quite often until 1930 when he began featuring Diana Guarani as the preferred work with which to end his concert performances. |
