An outstanding Spanish Guitar virtuoso and composer, Daniel Fortea was a student of Francisco Tarrega. Fortea began his professional guitar studies at age 6, and soon developed into a famous concert performer with regular appearances in Madrid, Barcelona and other major cities in Spain. Fortea published his own compositions and founded Biblioteca Fortea, with almost 1000 works, almost exclusively for guitar.

Asturias-Leyenda is from his “Suite espanola” which contains eight pieces for piano with both geographical and generic titles. For example, Asturias is an old province of northwestern Spain, and a leyenda is a type of dance. |
