Volte by Jean Babtiste Besard

Volte by Jean Babtiste Besard (1567-1617)

Jean Baptiste Besard The Volte was unique among court dances of the era because the couples danced in close embrace. Many examples of this dance form are found in lute music of France, England and Italy from around 1600. This particularly cheery volte by Besard should be played at a fairly quick tempo. In performance it often follows the branle.
